From Witness to Responsibility: A Child Survivor’s Journey 32 Years After Rwanda
Echange / Conférence
A conversation on surviving the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, inviting us to question what we inherit, what we remember, what we are responsible for, and how we choose to live with a history we did not choose.
« I would like to say to the students that they don't have to ask me a comfortable question. They don't have to agree with everything I will say. They can ask about survival, memory, reconciliation, politics, responsibility, identity, or even about something they don't understand. The purpose of testimony is not to stop questions but to make us ask better ones. And then tell them that they did not choose the world they were born into. Neither did I. »
Ange Munyakazi, ahead of her talk at Sciences Po
